How-To
How do you hypnotize yourself?
It’s not that hard. And there are dozens and dozens of ways to do it.
Here I’d like to teach you one simple way.
First, let’s cover some ground work. Hynosis is a series of trance states. You enter these trance states by naturally becoming relaxed. So, to hypnotize yourself, relax yourself.
Lots of hypnosis and meditation strategies use relaxation. There are dozens and dozens of ways to become relaxed. Here we’ll use breathing technique. It’s common to Buddhist meditation, the Russian hesychasm, and martial arts focusing, so it will work perfectly for us.
After you get relaxed, you’re going to work on a certain intention you set before you begin relaxing & hypnotizing yourself. When you’re relaxed, this intention will easily enter your subconscious mind. Trust your subconscious to work as your partner after it gets the message through hypnosis. And it will! So you’ll send you subconscious mind a clear message. Work on just one thing, something you feel empowered to do. And be specific! For instance, rather than say, “I want to get real rich,” say, “I earn $500 extra by January 15,” or even, “I want to enjoy working on my side business more & more.” Use simple, positive, present-tense statements. And write them in the first person– “I do this, I am enjoying my newfound money…” Finally, use ACTION verbs: “I charm the people I meet,” not “I am charming.”
To do self-hypnosis like this, it’s best to change your world gradually. Say, if you haven’t had a date in 5 years, you might not have much success if you try to hypnotize yourself into getting married in a few months! Take small steps– first work on talking to people with confidence and work your way up.
And remember, you can only change yourself. You can’t hypnotize yourself and make someone else fall in love with you! You CAN hypnotize yourself to be comfortable and charming around someone else– and detach yourself from the outcome so things flow naturally. You can control your own world, and yours alone.
Some of the best hypnotists recommend you talk to your subconscious like it’s a bright little kid. Simple sentences, simple commands, positive statements.
So, when you have designed your specific, simple thing to work on, go into hypnosis, repeat your commands, and come out. You can do this at your desk, when you get up, before you go to sleep. The more you do it, the more your subconscious will get the idea and help you out.
Here are the steps to hypnotize yourself:
- Get in a comfortable, safe place. Somewhere you won’t be disturbed while in trance. Block off 10, 15 minutes of free time. Remove all outside sound & distraction.
- Before you begin to hypnotize yourself, take a long, deep breath. Reread your intention– and say this: “As I go into hypnosis, I take suggestions and commands from my voice and my voice only. All outside sounds deepen my hypnotic trance as I listen to my voice only.”
- Now, take a long, deep breath. Hold it. Release it. As you release it, close your eyes. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.
- Now, take five more long, deep breaths. Hold. Release. Each time, feel a wave of relaxation coursing down through your body with your breath as you release it.
- After these five breaths, your body is relaxed. Now let’s relax your mind. We’re going to count down from 10 to 1. With each number, count on the inhale. As you exhale, say, “Deeper relaxed.” And let those waves of relaxation course through your body with each number, sending you deeper.
- Now you’re fully relaxed– hypnotized. You’re in a receptive state of mind.
- Repeat to yourself your hypnotic commands. This is your intention, what you’re going to work on.
- After it has settled into your subconscious mind, THANK your subconscious like it’s an old friend. Casually and genuinely. Because it’s there to help you out.
- Now you’ll come out of hypnosis on the count of 3. Count like this: “ONE. My subconscious mind fully takes in my suggestions and commands. TWO. Now coming out of hypnosis, feeling my fingers moving, my toes moving… THREE. Eyes open, wide awake, [snap fingers] fully refreshed! Happy I was hypnotized and feeling wonderful!”
That’s pretty much it. You can get IMMEDIATE benefits of relaxation and stress-relief. And short-term benefits of easily meeting your goals. As you progress, change your goals and your self-hypnosis script.
